HR3C is an austenitic stainless steel with high Cr and Ni content developed by Sumitomo Metal Co., Ltd. in Japan. It has been included in the Japanese MITI specification and is designated as "SUS310JITB". In recent years, it has been approved by ASME Code Case 2115 (not yet named). Due to the addition of a large amount of Cr, Ni, Nb, and N in the steel, its tensile strength is higher than that of conventional 18-8 stainless steel, and its endurance strength and allowable stress are much higher than that of conventional 18-8 stainless steel and TP310 steel. The high-temperature heat resistance and corrosion resistance of the steel are greatly superior to those containing less Cr, and its steam oxidation resistance is extremely excellent. This steel is very close to TP310CbN in ASME SA213.
Mainly used for manufacturing high-temperature superheaters, high-temperature reheaters, platen superheaters, and various high-temperature, high-pressure, or corrosion-resistant pipe fittings of large power generation boilers or circulating fluidized bed boilers with subcritical and supercritical pressure parameters. Due to its superior comprehensive performance to 18-8 stainless steel, it is bound to be widely used in the future.
