Due to Nb being less prone to burning than Ti, this steel can also be used as a welding core for welding chromium nickel austenitic stainless steel. This steel has higher high-temperature strength and better resistance to high-temperature oxidation compared to the 316 series, so it is often used as a high-strength steel.
