3J40 is a high hardness and high elasticity alloy, which is modeled after the brand 40XHIO (0Cr40Ni55AI3) of the former Soviet Union in China. This alloy has the characteristics of high strength (≥ 1900 MPa), high hardness (≥ 780 Hv), wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and non magnetism. It is an important bearing, shaft tip material [3], and printing needle material. 3J40 alloy is a nickel based high Cr, Al alloy with poor thermoplastic properties. It is used to manufacture elastic components in precision instruments, such as elastic sensors, energy storage components, frequency components, etc.
Effect of Aging Heat Treatment on the Properties and Microstructure of 3J40 Elastic Alloy
(1) Austenite structure of 3J40 alloy after aging γ Phase matrix+strengthening phase γ Phase and granular, layered a-Cr phase. The layered a-Cr phase is the main strengthening phase.
(2) There is a certain linear relationship between the volume fraction and thickness of the layered a-Cr phase, as well as the aging temperature and time. As the aging temperature and time increase, the volume fraction of a-Cr phase in the layer increases, the thickness of the layer increases, and the hardness of the alloy increases. However, when the thickness of the layer exceeds 60 nm, the hardness decreases significantly.
(3) The cooling rate of aging treatment has a significant impact on the layered a-Cr phase of the alloy sheet. During furnace cooling, the number of layered a-Cr phases is significantly higher than that of air cooling, and the hardness is also high. To ensure high hardness of the alloy, furnace cooling should be used after aging treatment.
