Product Description

The influence of the composition of 16Cr20Ni14Si2 heat-resistant steel on its high-temperature mechanical properties. Abstract: 16Cr20Ni14Si2 belongs to the classic heat-resistant steel grade, and the rust resistance and corrosion resistance of 16Cr20Ni14Si2 decrease with the increase of carbon content. Therefore, most stainless steels have low carbon content, with a maximum of 1.2%. Some steels have ω C (carbon content) is even lower than 0.03% (such as 00Cr12). The main alloying element in stainless steel is Cr (chromium), and only when the Cr content reaches a certain 1653 value, the steel has corrosion resistance.
Main characteristics of 16Cr20Ni14Si2 (S38240)
Corrosion resistance: Even when exposed to corrosive elements, stainless steel can stand excellently in various atmospheric environments.
Heat resistance: It can be hot worked at 1177 ºC and then rapidly quenched. Easy to weld by using fusion or resistance welding methods (but preferably not oxyacetylene). Even with a high work hardening rate, it can be used for leading, upsetting, stretching, and stamping.
Application fields of 16Cr20Ni14Si2 (S38240): Used for the production of special furnaces, load-bearing components of conveyors operating at high temperatures, such as hooks, glass blowing tubes, porcelain baskets, embedded parts of furnace chimneys operating in dry environments, chimneys, and special boilers.
